PRESS RELEASE: Habitat for Humanity and The Five Sisters

Habitat for Humanity
Five Sisters Productions
are teaming up for

MANNA FROM HEAVEN, the delightful third film from
the five Burton sisters of FIVE SISTERS PRODUCTIONS…

An intelligent, feel-good movie about rediscovering hope at any age.

MANNA FROM HEAVEN (PG) is a fun, feel-good comedy about what happens when you get a ‘gift from God’ (a financial windfall), but find out many years later that it was just a loan — and it’s due immediately. Through comic twists and turns of this feel-good film, the characters learn about family, romance, reconciliation, and redemption by overcoming the personal obstacles that have been holding them back in life.

The film’s stellar ensemble cast includes three Academy Award Winners — Cloris Leachman, Louise Fletcher, and Shirley Jones — and stars of film and TV, including Ursula Burton, Seymour Cassel, Shelley Duvall, Jill Eikenberry, Frank Gorshin, Faye Grant, Harry Groener, Wendie Malick, and Austin Pendleton.

The Burton sisters of Five Sisters Productions (Maria, Jennifer, Ursula, Gabrielle and Charity) are partnering with Habitat for Humanity to contribute to communities as the film is released in theaters over the next year. Though it is an unusual move for a production company, Five Sisters feels very strongly about community involvement and social responsibility. MANNA FROM HEAVEN is about a community coming together and, in the process, rediscovering hope. Five Sisters Productions will donate their portion of the proceeds from the first evening screening in each new market to Habitat For Humanity International.

Throughout MANNA FROM HEAVEN’s opening weekend in each market, the filmmakers will be available for question & answer sessions at special affiliate screenings & local affiliate fund-raisers, visit local affiliate jobsites, and do interviews on behalf of the film and local Habitat affiliates. They are also available phone interviews at anytime. The Burtons are committed to working their partnership with HfHI and the local affiliates into each radio, television and print interview.

MANNA FROM HEAVEN held its world Premiere in Branson, Missouri the first week in August and opened in Kansas City two weeks later. Public response to the film was remarkable. MANNA was expanded into other theaters (highly unusual for an independent film — most of which play one or two weeks in a specialized art house theater), and ran for eight weeks. MANNA has had successful multiple-week runs, often for 2+ months, in Branson, MO, Kansas City KS & MO, Washington, DC, Buffalo, NY, LA, and San Diego. All this through word-of-mouth!

AMC is enthusiastic about the success and potential of MANNA FROM HEAVEN and is in the process of developing a National AMC Marketing Campaign.
