Manna From Heaven screened for the United States Congress. Jack Valenti, head of the MPAA, sponsored the screening and reception for members of Congress. Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), Representative Tom Reynolds (R-NY), and other members attended.
Manna From Heaven was chosen by the American Cinematheque for their prestigious Alternative Screening series. The screening was a delightful evening with Cloris Leachman, Shirley Jones, Wendie Malick, all of the Burtons from Five Sisters Productions, and other stars from the cast.
The Burton sisters brought Manna From Heaven, their third feature film, back home for a special preview screening at a gala event at Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, where part of the film was shot. Hundreds of people from the community attended. Photos by Thomas M. Curley.
The Manna From Heaven release was designed as a whistle-stop tour — an old-fashioned idea for an old-fashioned film — with the Five Sisters traveling to over 35 cities to promote it. R.S. Entertainment and Five Sisters Productions rolled out the award-winning comedy through a grassroots campaign.
Habitat for Humanity builds with the Five Sisters and the Burtons — FSP partnered with Habitat for Humanity as part of the Manna From Heaven release, with the five sisters and Jill Eikenberry attending the Habitat for Humanity reception at the Manna premiere screening.
